Powering Integra-TR: a DC supply, Sleep mode and the polling cycle

For remote node telemetry power supply is selected together with the polling mode. The modem, controller and auxiliary equipment consume energy in different states. A good kit application contains the DC source, the exchange schedule, and the data installed by Integra-TR so that the power supply stock matches the operation of the entire point.

Family limits and copy passport

CalAmp PN 001-4008-100 Rev 3, April 2012, describes an adjustable source of 13.3 V DC with a range of 10–16 V and a 3 A requirement for power supply of the apparatus. These data are related to the specified edition of the family. For the proposed 242-4018-630, the applicable documentation and markings must be separately confirmed.

Recording “24V object” does not mean connecting the modem directly to the bus. The nominal value of the system, the real voltage limits and the source parameters are different information. For approval, attach the power supply model and transition data, if known from the equipment documentation.

Currents from the manual do not turn into ready-made autonomy

In the old materials there are other values of reception. Do not mix the numbers of different configurations, measurement conditions, and document editions. For the calculation of the working node, the confirmed or measured consumption of a particular set is more useful than the minimum figure from the description of the line.

Sleep and Suspend are not the same expectation.

In the Sleep section, the manual directly indicates that the device does not detect the carrier, and the wake-up is performed by the RTS signal on COM or SETUP. A radio poll is not in itself a reason to promise the awakening of a sleeping node. This mode is selected only together with the logic of the connected equipment.

Suspend is described as a cyclical transition to a state of reduced consumption. Its time parameters and master/remote work must correspond to the accepted exchange. Before turning on savings at a remote point, check the receipt of requests, sending answers and allowable delay of the entire system.

The calculation example relates to selected assumptions

For preliminary assessment, take 0.25 A in waiting for 23.8 hours and 2.5 A in transmission for 0.2 hours. It turns out 0.25 × 23.8 + 2.5 × 0.2 = 6.45 Ah per day. This is a conditional arithmetic example, not a measurement of Integra-TR 242-4018-630 or a recommendation of battery capacity.

To the modem add a controller, converters, sensors and other real loads. Then take into account the permissible depth of discharge, temperature, transformation losses and the required operating time. The solar panel is estimated according to the conditions of the object and the season; its size is not selected for one average modem current.

Transmission power and cooling

The family guide describes the regulation of RF power of 1-5 W. Reducing RF power does not mean the same multiple reduction in the consumption of the entire node: other circuits and external equipment remain. The project compares measurements and exchange quality for a consistent mode.

The manufacturer also describes transmission time limits and the role of the radiator. Therefore, the energy source and cabinet are selected taking into account the transmission sessions, ventilation and the external environment. The body of the modem in this edition is not sealed; the conditions of placement and the protective configuration of the node are considered separately.

Application for modem and power supply

Specify the device code, power source, polling period and required battery life. If the old power supply unit is replaced, attach its nameplate and connection scheme. This allows you to check the desired set before sending equipment to the facility and not replace the power supply task with a similar connector.

Questions before ordering

Sleep wakes up to an incoming radio request?

According to the guidance of Rev 3 in Sleep, the carrier is not detected. RTS on COM or SETUP is used to wake up; the mode is coordinated with the logic of the equipment.

Can I connect the modem directly to the 24V bus?

The source range is checked against the specific configuration documentation. This version of the family contains a maximum of 16 in DC.

Does the 6.45 Ah give the required battery capacity?

Nope. This is an example of conditional currents and time. For the battery, the entire set, losses, temperature and allowable discharge are taken into account.
