What is a radio modem and where is it needed?
The radio modem transmits not speech, but data: instrument readings, commands for actuators, the state of the equipment. It is put where it is expensive or impossible to pull the wire - on bush pads, water intakes, pumping stations, pipelines, energy facilities.
In fact, this is a replacement of the cable line between the control room and the remote object. The device connects to the controller in the same way as a wired modem, and transmits data without changes - so this mode is called transparent: the control system does not know that the channel has become a radio channel.
The parameters of this model
The range of 150–174 MHz is a meter wave. They pass through the building worse than higher frequencies, but they are better to bend the relief and go further in open terrain. For linear objects like pipelines, this is usually the right choice.
Speeds up to 19,200 bits/s are designed for telemetry: readings, statuses, short commands. Videos are not transmitted over such a channel - the task is different.
The power is adjusted from 1 to 5 W. Less power – less interference to neighboring channels and less power supply consumption; more – further communication. The sensitivity of the receiver of 0.35 microvolts determines how weak the signal the device will still analyze: the smaller the number, the further the transmitter-receiver pair reaches.
Two low-power modes (Sleep and Suspend) are needed for objects without constant power supply - where the modem is powered by a solar panel with a battery.

Is there enough range?
Depends on the terrain, antenna height and interference. Write the distance and nature of the area – we will estimate and tell you if you need a repeater.
Do I need a frequency permit?
For work in that range, yes. If there are no frequencies yet, we will give you the order of registration.
