Telemetry's already working. Do you need a separate communication for employees?
The dispatcher sees the readings of the remote object, but the visiting employee still has to discuss the malfunction or procedure with him. Telemetry does not answer the question of how people will talk. When selecting a VX-1700, it is useful to separate human conversations and automatic exchange between hardware while keeping the data system running.
Showing in the program and talking - different results
In telemetry, the source of data is a device or controller. The radio modem transfers the agreed exchange, and the program displays the desired value and its status. The operator can receive a number even when there is no person near the object.
Voice coordination solves another problem: the employee explains the situation, clarifies the message and receives a response. It defines people’s jobs and the way they communicate with the dispatcher. You don’t need to replace a good data channel just because you need to negotiate.
Where to look at the VX-1700
The VX-1700 is an HF transceiver that the manufacturer describes for a variety of applications, including speech and data transmission. For the negotiations of a remote ground post, both sides of the communication, the antenna installation, power supply and actual conditions are discussed. The lack of cellular coverage in itself does not prove that a particular site needs this option.
The quotation for one device is not a ready line between two objects. Specify which correspondent the employee should work with, what has already been established and what is being added. So you can compare the addition of one post and the creation of a new direction for the full composition, and not only for the price of the case.
Data transfer via HF requires its approval
The VX-1700 is not a voice station. In its manual, DATA mini-DIN is provided for TNC or external data transmission and reception device. This is the ability to build the appropriate solution, not a ready-made universal port controller.

First, decide what is retained.
If telemetry is good, list the stored controllers, modems, and program. Separately formulate the need of the staff: who is talking to whom, from what post and in what workplaces. If you really need another data channel, specify the machine exchange and the requirements for it.
For Integra-TR, CalAmp documentation separates COM for hardware and SETUP for customization. These roles aren't mixed either. Neither the same connector nor the general term “radio link” proves the interchangeability of two different solutions.

Questions before ordering
Does the VX-1700 only work with voice?
Nope. The manual provides for various applications, and the DATA connector for TNC or external modem. system configuration for data is agreed separately.
Can the DB9 GPS be considered a normal controller input?
The VX-1700 manual describes it as the GPS input of NMEA-0183. Form DB9 does not confirm function or compatibility.
Do you need to buy all the telemetry again to add negotiations?
Not automatically. First, specify the system to be saved and the task of the staff separately; the composition of the supplement is determined by the project.

Negotiations of the visiting group with working telemetry
For a remote facility on Tomi with equipment in Jurga, describe separately the transmission of testimony and the negotiations of the employee with the dispatcher. If the group leaves Kemerovo, its routes and workplaces are included in the voice communication assignment. The current data channel is stored in a separate scheme.
In the request for the VX-1700, specify the models of installed equipment and the desired composition. radio, antenna system and coordinated work are listed separately. Getting new readings on the screen is not a test that an employee can have the right conversation from the subject.
