“Superintellect” for reports: calculations by telemetry company

The unloading of the evidence turns into an understandable report only after determining the rules of calculation. A model can help to write an explanation, but the average, duration, and number of events must be derived from the data processing being tested. For such an application, a precise contract of inputs and output is more useful than the promise of “smart analysis of everything.”

Define the boundaries of the report

For the pilot, select one indicator and one type of report. Specify objects, period, time zone, units and unloading version. Recording the time of reception of the message does not always coincide with the time of measurement: the application should store and show their purpose, and not silently choose a convenient field.

Separate the source data, the result of the calculations and the text explanation. The employee should be able to repeat the calculation according to the same set of lines and rules. If late messages are added to the upload later, the new report receives a new version so that the change in numbers can be explained.

Measurement gap is not equal to zero value

Identify how to account for missing, repeated, and labeled readings as unreliable. Substituting zero can change the average and create a false event. In the report, you need to see not only the total, but also the number of suitable records and the interval for which data is not enough.

PostgreSQL documentation indicates that avg misses missing NULL values when calculating the mean, and count(*) and count(field) count different sets. This shows why the rules for handling passes should be explicit. The choice of function does not in itself determine the method of production report.

Textual explanation is based on ready indicators

Transmit the model to the agreed table of results, quality signs and identifier of the initial unloading. The text requires references to the indicator, object and period. The cause of the change in value can only be called confirmed if there is a corresponding source; the observed coincidence of events does not prove a causal relationship.

To receive, turn on the pass, duplicate, late message and change the unit in the original data. Check the numbers and the wording. If no data is available, a good answer reports a limitation rather than explaining a fictional load increase or device malfunction.

What to include in the server quotation

Specify the amount of data received, the frequency of reports, the number of users and the required period of preparation. Separately, import, version storage, calculation module, text creation and confirmation interface are agreed. In the described project, the report is prepared for review by the employee; commands in real equipment are not part of this scenario.

“Superintellect” for reports is the name of the application and server project. The actual configuration, the selected model and the works are recorded in the quotation. When updating the model, the preservation of the meaning of the explanations on the previous control tables is checked; when changing the formulas, a new version of the calculation is separately adopted.
