Buy a server for a video archive: batch indexing and episode search
In the folder are recordings of training, demonstrations of equipment and long working videos. The right moment was once seen, but now you have to open files in turn. Packet indexing turns the archive into a catalog of episodes: the employee asks a request, sees several suitable fragments and immediately goes to the desired place of the original record. Order an episode search, not an abstract video analysis
For example, the training department looks for a demonstration of a particular node among the recordings of classes. He is useful thumbnail, the title of the recording, the time interval and a short description of the scene. If the spoken phrase is important, a consistent speech recognition is added to the index. Finding a visible subject and finding a teacher’s words require different components, even when working across the same query field.
The first result of the project can be a limited library with clear headings: equipment, operation, topic of study. Employees clarify what signs really help to choose a fragment. This allows you to direct the calculations to the desired result: somewhere enough text and a few illustrations, and somewhere you will need a separate model of visual search.
Each result has an address in the original.
First, the application registers the file and its checksum, learns the composition of threads, duration and technical parameters. The official ffprobe utility allows you to get information about the container, threads and frames in a structured form. This data is necessary for the preparation of the processing; by itself it does not describe the content of the recording.
The record is then divided into easy-to-find sections and saves the beginning and end of each fragment. For mounted training materials, PySceneDetect algorithms can be useful: they determine transitions by image changes. The boundary of the scene does not equal the semantic event. For continuous recording from a still camera, the method of highlighting episodes is selected separately for the task.

Processing should keep up with replenishment
Initial downloading of accumulated archives and daily processing of new records are two different modes. It is useful for the buyer to name the permissible period of preparation of the first library and the time of the next entry in the search. Then you can determine priorities: new classes to process before the old demonstrations, and re-indexing to perform a separate queue.
Tasks save state by file or site. After the restart, the already accepted result remains in the catalog, and the unfinished work continues according to the prescribed rule. The model version and the cutting method are recorded along with the index. When updating, you can compare the quality of the search on the previous queries, keeping the connection with the same originals.
Where you need GPU, CPU and drives
The speed of the entire process consists of reading files, decoding, training, the work of selected models and recording the index. An accelerator may be important for a particular model, but that doesn’t make any codec hardware-supported. The placement of the originals, the network to the archive and the place for temporary files are included in the calculation of the project along with the computing part.
For selection, transfer several characteristic records: slides, movement, low lighting, different resolutions and sound. This sample captures the selected program, the suitability of the found episodes and the actual processing time. The number of hours per day and parallel tasks are included in the quotation after checking the agreed mode, rather than inferring from the server name.
The usefulness of the catalog is evaluated by the usual task of the employee: find the demonstration and open the right moment. Keep confirmed examples, note inaccurate results and supplement the vocabulary of topics. Built-in player, viewing rights, export selection and storage of source agree as functions of the application. So the project ends with a working tool for the department, not just the installed machine.

Questions before ordering
Is this project analyzing cameras in real time?
This is the batch processing of already recorded files. Working with direct streams requires separate calculation of latency, load, connectivity stability and reaction requirements.
Can the originals be removed after indexing?
The index helps to find the record, but source material is needed to view and verify the episode. The terms of storage of originals, derivative copies and index are agreed separately.
How many hours of video will the server process per day?
This is determined by agreed codecs, resolution, models and selected operations. A reliable number cannot be obtained from one server name; quotation includes a verified operating mode.
